Applebee’s Oriental Dressing


  • 3tablespoons honey
  • 1 1⁄2tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1⁄4cup mayonnaise
  • 1teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1⁄8teaspoon sesame oil


  • Mix ‘em up.

    Very close flavor to Applebee’s. I think Applebee’s has a thicker consistency, though. TIP: Let me share a secret of mine…. For those of you who don’t have rice wine vinegar, you can use regular white vinegar– after diluting it. For every 2 tbsp of white vinegar, add 1 tsp of water. Since this recipe just calls for 1 1/2 tbsp of rice wine vinegar, just discard the extra.

    I didn’t have the sesame oil, but I followed the rest of the recipe exactly. Very tastey! I couldn’t stop eating my salad. It’s not 100% like the dressing at Applebee’s, but it is very close to it. I’ll have to get some sesame oil; maybe that makes it even better!

    This turned out really well (eating it right now). Can’t say it totally like the Applebees dressing, but close (trust me, I have that salad EVERY time I go to Applebees, no exception). The thickness is fine. I added some sugar (about a teaspoon) and some salt in addition to the ingredients and I thought it tasted better. Next time I make it, I will use only sugar, as the flavor of honey is too strong and doesn’t really taste like the dressing should. Overall its delicious as its own dressing, but not really THE applebee’s dressing. My advice is go with this recipe and change it as you like! Experimentation is the best part of cooking, anyway. 🙂

    Yum! This is wonderful! It does taste very much like Applebees. I used it on my own version of Applebees oriental salad – cabbage, sliced almonds, crunchy noodles, and shredded chicken. This will save me tons of money! Thanks Miller

    This is a wonderful dressing. Had to sub the vinegar for a red wine, what I had. After tasting, added a pinch of salt and some extra sesame oil, since I could drink the stuff. Used a mayo recipe off this site, basic food processor mayo submitted by Lennie, and this dressing came out smooth and sweet, but with a great flavor from the dijon and sesame. Don’t really eat at Applebee’s, so I’m not sure how it compares, but great on it’s own merits!

    I tried making this dressing and it is awesome! I am so excited to find the ingredients on RecipeZaar. I have always LOVED the Applebee’s Oriental dressing and always wanted to know what was in it. This recipe tastes EXACTLY like it and you can substitute other kinds of vinegar, oil and mustard and can also use Miracle Whip Light instead of mayo and it STILL tastes just as wonderful as the Applebee’s dressing.

    I worked at Applebee’s for 6 years and this recipe was pretty spot on. To get the consistency of the Applebee’s dressing, add a little more sesame oil and take out the honey and sub 3 tablespoons of sugar diluted in a tiny bit of water.


    Loved this recipe! I am on a no carb, no sugar diet at the moment so I substitued the honey for 3 tbls Splenda diluted in a bit of water and light Mayo.

    OH YEAH!!! Spot on!!! I’m so excited at how identical this recipe was. I made it just as stated and the consistency was perfect, taste was excellent, Oh My!!
